Mechanistic Studies of Laccase/TEMPO Catalyzed Aerobic Oxidation of Alcohols
The reaction parameters for the Laccase/TEMPO system in the aerobic oxidation of aromatic alcohols were investigated. The optimized concentrations of laccase and alcohol were found to be 10 U/ml and 160 mM respectively. Under these conditions the use of 9 mol % TEMPO led to good conversions within 4 h. The optimum temperature for the reaction was found to be above room temperature (around 30°C).
متن کاملSelective Aerobic Oxidation of Alcohols by Non-metallic Oxidation Systems --- Towards Green Chemistry
Introduction Selective oxidation of organic compounds is one of the major challenges facing the chemical industry. The selective transformation of alcohols to aldehydes and ketones, in particular, is among the most important synthetic operations in organic chemistry. Numerous methods have been reported and widely used for this purpose utilizing various organic and inorganic oxidants, for exampl...
متن کاملAerobic oxidation of NHC-catalysed aldehyde esterifications with alcohols: benzoin, not the Breslow intermediate, undergoes oxidation.
Benzoin (and neither the Breslow intermediate nor the NHC-aldehyde tetrahedral adduct) has been unambiguously identified as the oxidised species in aerobic NHC-catalysed aldehyde esterifications.
متن کاملMechanism of the aerobic oxidation of alcohols by palladium complexes of N-heterocyclic carbenes.
Quantum mechanics (B3LYP density functional theory) combined with solvation (Poisson-Boltzmann polarizable continuum solvent model) was used to investigate six mechanisms for the aerobic oxidation of alcohols catalyzed by (NHC)Pd(carboxylate)(2)(H(2)O) complexes (NHC = 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazol-2-ylidene). Of these, we find that "reductive beta-hydride elimination", in which the be...
